Application Guidelines (Composite Colors Soft/Plus User Manual)
According to a user manual for this series:
-
Processing time: Leave on for 20 minutes on natural (virgin) hair; for 5–10 minutes on subsequent applications.
-
Tools caution: Avoid using any metal tools when applying the color, as they may react and damage hair.
-
Skin contact: If the dye gets on skin, rinse immediately with water.
-
After chemical treatments: You may reapply Composite Colors after 15 days post any perming, relaxing, or straightening processes.
Typical Mixing Instructions:
-
Mix Ratio:
Usually 1:1 (i.e., equal parts color and developer), unless the specific tube or shade instructions say otherwise. -
Developer Strength:
Use 10-volume (3%) or 20-volume (6%) depending on your goal:-
10 vol – for deposit only or subtle color changes (e.g., blending grey)
-
20 vol – for covering grey or lifting 1–2 levels
-
Developer Brand:
While L’Oréal recommends using their own L’Oréal Professional Developer, a compatible cream developer from another salon-quality brand (like Wella or Redken) can work in a pinch — but for best results, stick to the same manufacturer.
Don’t Use Without Developer:
Using the color straight from the tube without developer will not work properly — the color won’t develop, won’t last, and won’t give the intended tone or coverage.
(DEVELOPERS SOLD SEPARATELY)
